DIOR COUTURE by Patrick Demarchelier

The soon to be released, DIOR COUTURE will make a lovely gift for this holiday season. This book is a portfolio of over one hundred iconic gowns for the entire era of Christian Dior haute couture, including dresses designed by Dior himself and those of his successors, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, and John Galliano.

Each of these divine portraits were shot by legendary French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier whose work is regularly featured in leading magazines including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Vanity Fair, and many others. Demarchelier was also the official photographer of Princess Diana of Wales, the first non-Briton to become an official photographer for the Royal Family.
Shot in various places, a movie studio in Beijing, Times Square in New York and, in Paris, in settings including a private chateau, the Opera Garnier, avenue Montaigne, and at the Hotel Plaza Athenee, the stunning gowns - vintage and contemporary - were taken on models including Natalia Vodianova, Gisele Bundchen, Karlie Kloss, actress Charlize Theron, and many others.

Founded in Paris by designer Christian Dior in 1946, the House of Dior is one of the most revered names in fashion, and his the archetype of Parisian couture. With splendid images accompanied by thoughtful text by former editor-in-chief of Interview magazine, and a special foreword by American artist Jeff Koons, DIOR COUTURE immortalizes one of the most important and long-lived couture houses in the world and is a book that anyone with an interest in fashion will want for their library.

DIOR COUTURE is published by Rizzoli New York

Kenzo, the book

In honor of "Paris Fashion Week,"an introduction to Kenzo, the first exhaustive book ever published to present forty years of the Paris-based fashion house, founded by Japanese designer Kenzo Takada and now  revitalized under artistic director Antonio Marras. Established in 1970, Kenzo is one of the great French houses that transformed global fashion in the latter half of the twentieth century.
This lavish volume comes in a real fabric cover, available in three different patterns, and with a pop-up that evokes the romantic textiles, envelopes, and paper craft for which the house's fashion collection are known.
This book is truly an art object in and of itself.

Julie Blackmon " Domestic Vacations "

American photographer Julie Blackmon, the oldest of nine children and mother to three, uses her own family members and household to explore the fantastic elements of our everyday lives. Her photographs are  also inspired by Dutch and Flemish paintings from the 17th century, in particularly by Jan Steen whose work is known for convivial scenes of families and common people. Kids rule in Julie Blackmon's world. They take over rooms, backyards, entire houses. The photographer describes her work as a domestic landscape of the past and present. Blackmon has had many solo exhibitions, and her work is held in numerous collections, among them the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Center for Contemporary Photography, Chicago.
Her recent book, Domestic Vacations features 45 of Blackmon's color photographs. Fragments of fairytales mix with the furniture, children pile upon each other, arms, legs, clothes and things all swirl in a colorful array of reality.
