'No Limit' to her swagger?
Cymphonique Miller
She's got the looks, but does 13 year old Cymphonique Miller have the talent? Most of you may already know that Cymphonique Miller is the sister of the handsome Romeo Miller but her style is nothing like his and ever since she was younger she has been establishing herself as an independent artist! She says in an interview done with 'Teen Performance' "I’ve been doing commercials ever since I was little, but I got my start with Disney’s 'The Next Big Thing.' They were constantly playing my music on radio Disney and that gave me a lot of exposure. They told me after the TV show was finished that they got 12 million people to vote online, which was record breaking for Disney!" Well without any further ado we introduce the Vogue | D world to Ms. Miller. Check out her latest song featuring none other than her brother, and of course let us know VOGUE or NO?!...

New Music Mondays
The modern day CASANOVA Southern Cali Rep
Okay from what my eyes can see this next New Music Mondays feature is teaching ladies that not all rappers look as rugged as the lyrics they rap. Not to be stereotypical but... Brandon Jeffrey has to be one of the smoothest looking rappers I have ever seen. When I first saw the brotha I honestly thought he was a singer, but comparable to as confident as he looks he just as confidently responded "I am not a singer, I am a rapper."
Just to give you a SMALL overview on Brandon or some of you may know him as his rap name "Cas" (which is an abbreviation for Casanova), he was born/raised/still resides in California and is a nineteen year old full time college student (J Cole won't be the only rapper with a degree!) You should all know the deal by now, but for our new-found Voguers if you're liking what you hear then comment on the post and state your approval. Now, on the other hand if what you're hearing is just not okay then feel free to say HELL NO YOU GOTTA GO! We're all grown ups here! The artist who receives ten votes of yes (or as we call them: Vogue Votes) will then earn their chance to weekly updates on Vogue | Diaspora! Now let the music play...

Introducing...
Earlier in the week we revealed to you all a series of hints as to who our next "Tomorrow's Stars Today" feature would be. It was said that she is a dancer [and has danced/worked with and/or alongside numerous celebrities such as Fantasia, Ludacris, Souljah Boy and MANY MORE], and that she resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Now, before I release the name of this extremely beautiful, talented, young lady you must FIRST watch this amazing choreography by Atlanta's own SEAN BANKHEAD which features her and a line of other dancers. Maybe then you will get a feel for who this 'mystery' feature is!
Kenitia Coleman
I had the pleasure of interviewing the beautiful, talented Ms. Coleman and I just could not wait to share it with you VOGUERS. You would think for someone who has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time she would have this "larger than life" mentality but she is extremely down-to-Earth!
I started off the interview by asking when she FIRST decided dancing was what she wanted to do and exactly how long she has been dancing & her response was...
"I was 12 years old and decided after going to a Bow Wow concert and seeing dancers that i wanted to do the same. I've been doing Ballet,Jazz,Modern,Lyrical,Contemporary,African, and Theater for about six years.Once i moved to Atlanta 2 years ago i got into Hip Hop training."
On who her biggest influences are and where she sees herself in ten years...
"My Monsters Of Hip Hop family are my Biggest influences. They are all extremely hard workers and humble individuals and in ten years I see myself on tour with Janet Jackson, if not sooner, managing a company and being a business woman."
"I met him as soon as I moved to Atlanta. I was taking his dance class and after class he wanted all my information because he said he loved me.Working for and with him is always an amazing experience, I learn so much from him. Its funny because I used to think I'll never meet him but now we are really close."
Everytime V O G U E | Diaspora does a feature on an up and coming star we ALWAYS keep you updated on the latest and greatest regarding them. To see more from this dancer stay tuned to https://www.facebook.com/pages/Vogue-Diaspora/161349567251317

People You Should Watch; Tre' Banks
Being that this blog is ran by current students of Howard University, we love to showcase & highlight our noteworthy peers. Whether you sing, dance, write, act, or promote, if you are doing it exceptionally well, VOGUE | Diaspora wants to display your talents to the world. Tre Banks, who hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a friend of mine & I couldn't help but notice his drive & passion for what he does. I contacted the rising producer & media mogul to do a quick interview. Check It Out Below, & Make a note that Mr. Banks is definitely someone you should watch. . .
"On who Tre' Banks is..."
"I describe myself as an Executive Producer because I was blessed by the Urban Feed Mag , LLC my own online show that I have full creative control over. I create skits, interviews, and decide what topics I want to cover, and present it as a show entitled "The Conversation Piece". I describe myself as an on-air personality because I am host of every webisode I put out and I do freelance on-camera interviews with different people throughout entertainment for different media outlets. I also describe myself as a host because I have been hosting a number of events, from club parties, house parties, concerts, mixtapes and even certain artist have asked me to host their 10-30 minute sets at concerts. I am willing to expand and host any type of event presented to me, in hopes of building my resume/portfolio in the field.
"On His & Current Projects & Future Plans..."
"I am trying to build an entertainment umbrella that encompasses myself as a Host/Personality , my show, and music talents. So far I am working alongside one artist from DC by the name of Rahiem Supreme. I handle manager and publicist type duties. So under this entertainment umbrella so far I have myself and an artist which builds the brand of the company which i call "HMP Entertainment".
"I ultimately aspire to be a hip hop staple, someone who is respected and a huge contributor to the culture. A voice that is trusted, while at the same time being a face. I admire individuals like Big Tigger, Amanda Diva, Terrence J, etc. and hope to do something in the same field as them with a Diddy/Dame Dash twist by building a company/platform around me. Ultimately I walk this road on faith, so I rarely worry about how I will get there; I am just confident I am. . ."

Young Mel
So after reviewing all the hot tracks that people are sending in I stumbled across a man named Young Mel. I was trying to figure out how I knew that name but then I remembered a couple months back when my Facebook newsfeed was buzzing with something called the "Mel|evision Mixtape" and I was like HE MUST BE FEATURED ON THE PAGE. Sometimes a lot of rappers sound the EXACT SAME, but I don't know something about YM just makes me want to listen ... check it out for yourselves. & LONG ISLAND stand up!!!!
"I don't rap about nothing that I don't do stop that, so guns I don't pop that."
Young Mel:
"I never wanted to be a rapper. Back when I was 8 a few of my cousins wanted to perform a song by some group called Mag-7 at a talent show & they talked me into doing it with them. Then after that my cousin Ty-Q & I use to sit in different rooms, write for like 20 mins dissin each other & come together & spit em for each other lol. Then from there I just got into it & started writing my own material & experimenting different things. I wasn't really too serious up until maybe I turned 15. Then when my cousin T.Y. Passed away in 2009 that's when it got real. I've never been so serious in my life lol. I just want to be that Only young rapper that's on all the songs wit the vets & Killin lol. In 10 years I see myself set. Idk if I'll still be rapping at 30 haha. But you never know."

| Jordan "Rok" Bailey |
VOGUE|D:
I just want to start this interview off with a serious question. What do you think of the current stage of Hip Hop?
ROK BAILEY.
I believe that right now hip hop is in its recovery stage. There are alot of new, creative rappers such as J cole, wale, and kendrick lemar that are bringing a sense of lyricism back into music. Underground hip hop is thriving right now as well. I love to see that.
VOGUE|D.Okay, well just what exactly do you hope to accomplish with your music?
ROK BAILEY.
I hope to bring popular music back into hip hop. I make music for everyone because I've come into contact with so many different types of people. I can make music for the singles mothers, and I can write songs for the middle aged white man who wants to relax after a hard day of work. The goal is for my music to be universally good.
VOGUE|D. When did you decide that you wanted to pursue music and how long have you been rapping?
ROK BAILEY.
I have loved music since forever lol, but I got serious about music around 13. I used to walk to play basketball and freestyle to myself until i arrived at the courts. Eventually, i began rapping in front of large groups of people. I credit my friends for encouraging me to break into the music industry, because my lines used to cause quite a reaction with them lol.
VOGUE|D.Okay and speaking of the music industry, what is your biggest fear regarding it [the music industry]?
ROK BAILEY.
My biggest fear period has always been that my voice will never truly be heard. If I can't make my way inside the industry without speaking from my soul, then I will feel dissapointed in myself. Coming from the hood, there are so many experiences I can speak on wether its the struggle or the violence. Those stories hold so much value.
VOGUE|D.Who are your biggest influences and why?
ROK BAILEY.
My favorite artists are Kanye West, Young Jeezy, and Andre 3000. Coldplay is my favorite band. To me, Kanye is the best "artist" in the world, he can produce, rap, and perform. Plus, he'll speak his mind on ANYTHING in the media. Jeezy is the realest ever, and Andre 3000 has a unique flow. I still haven't made it to a Coldplay concert lol those guys are amazing..Viva la vida became my favorite song after a couple listens
VOGUE|D.
Now, If you had anything to tell to other aspiring musicians what would it be?
ROK BAILEY.
Change the world. If you can't change the world with your music, then spread love with your music.
VOGUE|D.
Well, It was an absolute pleasure speaking with you, and we wish you all the success in the world - one day the World will be screaming ROK BAILEY!
ROK BAILEY.

Jesus Walks ... in MPH's Rhymes .
We all know that Howard University harvests students that have talent and ambition pumping through their veins but what makes this particular Bison stand out is his faith and love for God. Marcellius Hamilton, or also known by his stage name 'Man Praisin' Hard' takes his praise and worship beyond the church doors and into his rhymes. This nineteen year old Atlanta based rapper does not rhyme about the usual money, cars and hoes like most of today's Hip Hop stars but he spits with reason, and meaning. It is a pleasure of mine to spread Hamilton's influence to all of our lovely Vogue readers!!!
Here's a clip of MPH's video for "With My Crew."

The Big Apple Meets Kenzie!
Mackenzie, or more eminently known as her stage name Kenzie, was born and raised in Islip Terrace, New York. She began modeling at the age of four and since then with the help of her mother, who h
as been a major influence and asset to the birth and maintenance of her career, modeling has been her number one focus. She acts, sings, dances, models and because of this New York City has become the home of BMG’s own Kenzie. Most of her gigs, and casting calls are in NYC (but not limited to) and her face is very well known in the Big Apple. It doesn’t seem like she will receive too many negative results during her journey because she has already conquered an immense number of things! Along with numerous fashion shows Kenzie has also appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the Adidas jean line, a fashion show conducted by Project Runway’s Carol Hannah and an exclusive show that will air in October (information for that can not yet be disclosed). The stride of Kenzie is done so beautifully and effortlessly one can almost get the notion that she does not try hard at all. She has the true attitude of a model which is make anything look beautiful, even if it in fact isn’t beautiful to you! Just like many young models, to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel is the biggest dream of Kenzie’s thus far. With influences such as Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, and Gisel; Kenzie hopes to pave the way for her name to be on the lips & hearts of people worldwide. So, if you do anything at all, make sure you keep your eyes and ears open for the fierce Ms. Kenzie because her rise to fame has only just begun.

America's Next Top Model - Straight Outta DC!
VogueD :
What inspired you to do hair?
Ms. Medley:
I remember exactly when it was, I was in 3rd grade. My mother stopped doing my hair, since then I had to do it all by myself. I moved to America in 1998 from Jamaica, once I saw all the different styles, diversity in hair types, and embellishments to hair I was intrigued. I did my research and got better and better. I started doing my own braids and extensions at a very young age which drew people to my talent and creativity. Then my clients started rolling in. This truly is one of my passions.
VogueD.
What are the most challenging aspects of modeling?
Ms. Medley:
The most challenging aspect of modeling is the stigma that comes behind African American models. It truly is a ruthless field which very few African American women prevail as more than a glamour or nude model. African American women are naturally thicker, curvy, and fuller than the typical Caucasian woman. Most high fashion designers are not of African American decent, therefore high fashion designers cater to women of less frame, curves, and weight to fit their clothing. Most high fashion runway models are of Caucasian, Asian and European decent. Me being a model and hearing that I can never walk on a New York runway because I am too curvy, thick, or full, stabbed all of my dreams of becoming a high fashion runway model. But it also fueled the fire to go harder because I hate hearing "NO."
VogueD.
Do you ever feel as if it's harder to pursue your dreams being an African American woman?
Ms. Medley:
Like my previous statement, being African American definitely makes it much harder pursue and be recognized in this industry. If you look through a high fashion magazine like Vogue or Elle the most recognized and photographered women wearing designer clothes are white or of European decent, really thin with long hair. Bureberry is one of the few designers that advertise mainly African American models. African Americans that are adversity are really thin, dark skin tone with all natural hair or light skinned with long hair, rarely anything in between. I believe if an African American models really wants to make it: her talent, determination, passion, and drive will take her far. "You must have a thick skin and stand firm to who you are without compromise."
VogueD.
If you could share any advice with young women what would it be?
Ms. Medley:
I myself being a young woman is still seeking advise for myself. But to anyone out there trying to start out; find a rolemodel and study her, her past, her methods, her accomplishments, just her whole story and why she did it. I researched all those before me, all those who made it. You have to know others stories for inspiration but also for their knowledge on the field to better yourself. You can just hop out there because your beautiful and expect everyone to recognize you. Its the talent, drive and passion in you that brings you far. You have to know people and have a contagious attitude because "Your attitude determine your altitude." Just be yourself and always better yourself.
