Falcon, Falcon Hoods and Falconers

For this year Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition ( Adihex ), the Italian Jewelry house Tiroler Goldschmied is launching a collection of 5 unique diamond studded falcon hoods. Used for the purpose of calming the birds, these luxury pieces are made of thin leather and precious stones, and range from $6,500 to $53,000, depending on the number of diamonds used and time spent to craft them. The Italian Jewelry house is betting that at least a few falconers at the exhibition will be interested in decking their birds out in custom made diamond hoods .....

Mary Katrantzou at London Fashion Week

Young designer Mary Katrantzou first standalone show at London Fashion Week was stunning. The collection was inspired by the stylized 70s photography of Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin, where the interiors became as important as the models. Each garment was a work of art; the patterns were inspired by old copies of Architectural Digest and World of Interiors. Delicate silk blouses were tucked into mini-crinolines imitating lampshades while dresses with prints of window frames had chiffon fluttering like drapes.
" With this collection, I wanted to put the room on the woman, rather than the woman in the room."

Julie Blackmon " Domestic Vacations "

American photographer Julie Blackmon, the oldest of nine children and mother to three, uses her own family members and household to explore the fantastic elements of our everyday lives. Her photographs are  also inspired by Dutch and Flemish paintings from the 17th century, in particularly by Jan Steen whose work is known for convivial scenes of families and common people. Kids rule in Julie Blackmon's world. They take over rooms, backyards, entire houses. The photographer describes her work as a domestic landscape of the past and present. Blackmon has had many solo exhibitions, and her work is held in numerous collections, among them the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Center for Contemporary Photography, Chicago.
Her recent book, Domestic Vacations features 45 of Blackmon's color photographs. Fragments of fairytales mix with the furniture, children pile upon each other, arms, legs, clothes and things all swirl in a colorful array of reality.

Alexander McQueen remembered

British designer Alexander McQueen spent his career "harnessing his dreams and demons", fashion's elite were told at his memorial service today, at St Paul's Cathedral in London. His final collection was a battle between dark and light, Anna Wintour said.
A tribute to the truly great designer, his last ever collection for AW10, a spectacular collection that referenced Byzantine art, and old Master paintings.

Jeux de Jambes

Beautiful legs, endless legs with Jeux de Jambes, a photo shoot by fashion photographer Martin Bing.
I wanted to create something new, but with old style, timeless pictures. Pictures you don't get tired of easily, pictures that state a style, a style that didn't got lost when changing to digital photography, a style that mixes simplicity and creativity, my style. The purpose of this project was after everything that in a few years you can look back at these pics and still like them, even if they are already 3 years hanging in living room.

It can be seen as 'A Female Model Coöperation' and I call it:

Yet unsanctioned public art remains the problem child of cultural expression, it has also become a global phenomenon of the 21st century. Not just another book on street art, Trespass features key works by 150 artists from around the world, and connects four generations of visionary outlaws such as Keith Haring, Jean Tinguely, Barry McGee, Guerrilla Girls, Shepard Fairey, Banksy and many more. The 318-page book also contains pieces of history, including unpublished photographs and images of street art by Keith Haring, Jean-michel Basquiat and Martha Cooper. The book starts with a quote from Queen Mary.
" My one regret in life is that I have never climbed over a fence."
