The Textile Sculptures or Fabric Art of Emilie Faif

A huge heart, secret landscapes, some floating meadows, red flowers .... Discover the exquisite world of Emilie Faif, a world that adheres to the logic of dreams and where dreams take on the colors and contours of reality.

Body, dream, everything is there: the body in dreams, dreams in the skin, the tissue woven between the two. Emilie Faif plays with the fabric, using every inch to create these unique sculptures.

Born in 1976, Emilie Faif is a visual artist and a scenographer. In 2000, she graduated from l'ENS d'Arts Appliques Olivier de Serres et des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Her creations include installations and scenographies for l'Atelier des Enfants at Pompidou Center, Isabel Marant, Hermes, Tsumori Chisato and more...

The C.O.P. Guide to Etiquette and Keep A Breast Foundation

On August 12th, a dual exhibition will be held for the first time at Strychnin Gallery in Berlin. The C.O.P. Guide to Etiquette and Keep A Breast Foundation are curated by KAB ambassador Yasha Young.

C.O.P. (Chicks On Powertrips) is an Australian street culture magazine exclusively devoted to female artists. For the upcoming show titled The C.O.P. Guide to Etiquette, around 30 international artists interpreted and visualized ancient etiquette rules for women from the Victorian era. The list of participants include Mimi S., Camila d'Errico, Miss Mindy, Helena Kubicka de Braganca and more...

Keep A Breast Foundation is a non-profit organization, whose agenda is raising awareness of breast cancer as well as educating people about its risks and its prevention. For the exhibit, many celebrities from different fields get plaster casts of their torsos done and have them designed by well-known artists such as Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Wee Flowers, Mimi S., Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Mariana Monteagudo: " Fake Idols "

The Venezuelan artist Mariana Monteagudo best known for her Munecas, doll sculptures, is beginning a new body of work. Little heroes, action figures, cartoon characters such as Betty Boop and Barbie dolls are the sources of inspiration for her new series titled " Fake Idols."

Monteagudo's work reveals an element of irony, not only in her unprejudiced use of iconography, but also in the way the artist takes features from toys, figures designed to show tenderness, with their big heads and moving expressions.

" This is the beginning of a new stage in my work. I'm starting to investigate new materials such as hard latex and other synthetic derivates, in a search that will certainly enrich my work and provide new languages or means of expression to my 10 years + career. The work has been slowly unfolding a different spirit, more industrial, more hybrid, taking references from the memory of our generation. A look from the distance to the icons of our society, trying not to take them for granted, but showing a different side, sometimes dark and frightening."
~~Mariana Monteagudo

The artist lives and works in Miami.

Erwin Wurm: " WEAR ME OUT "

This summer, the Middlelheim Museum of Antwerp will be a playground for Austrian contemporary artist Erwin Wurm. A selection of 20 pieces, some on loan from international collections and others new, will be on display. The Wear me out exhibition is a true voyage of discovery through the open-air museum, where the visitor can wonder at Wurm's expressive art, while at the same time becoming a part of it. Erwin Wurm has invited fashion designer, Walter Van Beirendonck, to collaborate for the occasion.

Although Wurm claims that he became a sculptor almost by chance, he is completely at home in the genre. The forms and the materials he chooses always yield surprising results that both examine and push the boundaries of sculpture. A visitor to one of Wurm's exhibitions is far from a passive onlooker, but gets the chance to take part, to become a part of the artwork  himself, to join in with it.

Wurm's work often makes use of everyday designs and situations from our own experience. His work is everywhere, in the streets, in everyday life: furniture, old clothes, houses, comics, household goods, amid cars, hand-knitted sweaters, and more...
